Frogs have been on the planet for over 200 million years, they have out lived the dinosaurs, survived asteroids and lived through the ice age. Some walk, some hop and some even glide.
Frogs are one of nature’s greats and a truly diverse order of animals.
There colours vary from green to purple, they range from little over a cm to nearly a foot and their ability to inhabit all four corners of the globe is incredible. They live high in the trees, burrowed under the mud and some are fully aquatic. There adaptation is unrivaled and they are a major part of the delicate eco system they inhabit.Their diversity has led to many different traits, be it the toxins of the poison dart frogs or the bright red eyes of the red eye tree frog each species has adapted to its environment and evolved different survival techniques. Frogs are now in danger due to habitat destruction, over collecting for the pet trade and the deadly chytrid fungus. To let this order of animals disappear would be catastrophic not only to their eco system but to our own medical research. There is still much to learn from frogs, but they need help before it’s too late.
